Sir Ken Robinson

This was a very interesting TED talk. It discussed how people must be wrong to be creative, and how education suppresses that idea. This talk was effective because Robinson was very casual and joking about his subject. It felt like he was talking to a small group of his friends. He presents his ideas by getting up on stage and giving stories, metaphors, and reasons. This video talks about how public education's current principles will collapse if they are not changed. Schools need to change how they work in order to keep the United States youth afloat in the future. Robinson's stories from his own life is something everyone can relate to. They also are related in each other to his idea of education. Sir Ken Robinson's main idea is that schools suppress creativity and that must be stopped. The human imagination is the most powerful thing on earth, and we have to be careful with it's power and how it develops. Mathematics, English, science, and history are all very important, but other things are just as important. Ken asks why dance is not a class in school. There is no sensible reason why this couldn't be a class for children who wish to express their creativity physically. By adding such courses to the public school system, the US would find their kids being much more successful in life than they are now. The future is coming, and it won;t get here any slower, so we all need to change in the changing world of tomorrow. Time waits for no man, and the world changes quickly.
