Clay Shirky

What I take away from this TED talk is how true it really is. Cognitive surplus does lead to creativity and there is not enough civic value in it. People need to spend the trillion hours per year on more intelligent things. LOLcats are hilarious in my opinion, but it's ridiculous how many such things are online. Shirky's effective techniques are that he uses popular culture to illustrate his point quite well. His idea of cognitive surplus comes across much more effectively because of this. Clay's presentation style is to speak to the audience while using a projector to show examples of his ideas. This is usually highly effective in all speakers. What really matters from this video is how the world is wasting a lot of valuable time humans have, and it shouldn't be wasted like it is being wasted now. In the world, laws and restrictions suppress creative techniques that can help others in our 21st century. Education, countries and people can all change more intelligently to use our cognitive surplus to benefit all.
